چکیده
Objective This study describes the causality, severity, and preventability of adverse drug reactions (ADR) in patients affected by leprosy treated with multi-drug therapy (MDT) at dermatology central clinics National Hospital Sri Lanka. Methods cross-sectional analytical consisted two components (retrospective prospective). Prospective cases were recruited followed up for six months. Retrospective data collection was carried out relevant NHSL extracting from clinical records patients. When an ADR suspected, it confirmed after discussion clinic medical officers/consultant dermatologist scored according to Naranjo probability scale. The intensity individual evaluated using modified Hartwig Siegel Severity Assessment Scale, assessment performed Schumock Thornton Results One hundred ninety-seven included attributable MDT. Approximately 145 (73.6%) developed associated dapsone. Another 50 (25.3%) rifampicin, 10 (5.1%) clofazimine. Of dapsone related ADRs, 59 (40.7%) definite, 64 (44.1%) probable, 22 (15.2%) possible. rifampicin-related cases, four (8%) 35 (70%) 11 (22%) most common detected haemolytic anaemia hepatic abnormalities due Dapsone discontinued 40% (59 145) these patients, while rifampicin stopped 8% (4 50) Clofazimine not any Conclusions Adverse multidrug are among diagnosed Most ADRs reported this mild severity preventable. Careful monitoring objective scales needed identify early stage.

Aimto study CADRs for clinical patterns, risk factors, causality, severity &preventability. Material &methodsA prospective study was undertaken in a 750 bedded tertiary care teaching hospital of central India. Patients with CADRs presenting primarily or referred from other departments were enrolled after being diagnosed by consultant dermatologist. Causality, preventability and severity were an...
متن کاملMobile App Design, Development, and Publication for Adverse Drug Reaction Assessments of Causality, Severity, and Preventability
BACKGROUND Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) cause significant morbidity and mortality. Improved assessment of ADRs to identify the causal relationship, the severity, and the preventability will aid ADRs prevention or reduce patient burden. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to develop mobile apps in assisting clinical decision in ADR assessments of causality, severity, and preventability using ...
متن کاملCausality Assessment of Cutaneous Adverse Drug Reactions
BACKGROUND Cutaneous adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are the most common adverse reactions attributed to drugs. A systematic and effective approach to a patient with suspected drug eruption allows for prompt recognition, classification and treatment of cutaneous ADRs. A standardized and effective approach for objective causality assessment is necessary to make consistent and accurate identificati...
متن کاملPercentage of Patients with Preventable Adverse Drug Reactions and Preventability of Adverse Drug Reactions – A Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND Numerous observational studies suggest that preventable adverse drug reactions are a significant burden in healthcare, but no meta-analysis using a standardised definition for adverse drug reactions exists. The aim of the study was to estimate the percentage of patients with preventable adverse drug reactions and the preventability of adverse drug reactions in adult outpatients and i...
متن کاملCausality, severity and preventability assessment of adverse cutaneous drug reaction: a prospective observational study in a tertiary care hospital.
INTRODUCTION The number of subjects involved in a clinical trial are limited, whose findings cannot be extrapolated to the entire population.Due to the emergence of newer molecules the pattern of Adverse Cutaneous Drug Reaction(ACDR) also changes frequently. The need for this study is for early diagnosis, to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to ACDR and to ensure safety of the patients. ...
